Family Life!

Rashed Prodhan comes from a family deeply rooted in politics and academic endeavors. His grandfather, the late Maulvi Gamir Uddin Prodhan, held prestigious positions as the President of the Undivided Pakistan Muslim League and the Speaker of the East Pakistan Provincial Council.

His father, Shafiul Alam Prodhan, was a prominent figure in Bangladeshi politics, serving as the founding president of the Jatiya Ganotantrik Party (JAGPA) until his passing in 2017. Rashed's mother, the late Professor Rehana Prodhan, made significant contributions to education as a professor in the Department of Social Sciences at Lalmatia Mohila College. She was also deeply involved in politics, being a founding member of JAGPA and later ascending to the presidency of the party before her demise in 2018.

Rashed Prodhan, the younger of two siblings, has an elder sister named Barrister Tasmia Prodhan, who continues the family's political legacy as the current President of JAGPA while practicing law in the Supreme Court of Bangladesh.

In his personal life, Rashed is married to Syeda Nafisa Reza, who holds the position of chairman at groupdot. The couple is blessed with two sons, Rihan Prodhan and Radin Prodhan, who represent the continuation of the family's heritage and values.

Political Life!

Rashed Prodhan's journey into politics began at a remarkably young age, immersed in the political fervor of his family. At just 8 years old, in 1992, he joined his parents in the Berubari Long March organized by the Jatiya Ganotantrik Party (JAGPA), proudly carrying the party flag of JAGPA along the Bangladesh-India border. Throughout his youth, he remained actively engaged in JAGPA's student body, the Jagpa Chhatra League.

His dedication and involvement in JAGPA's activities culminated in his appointment to the Central Committee in 2017. The following year, in the 2018 Special Council, he was elected Vice-President of JAGPA. Rashed's commitment to his party led him to contest the 2018 11th National Parliament election in the Bangladesh 1/Panchagarh 1 seat under the JAGPA symbol. In 2019, upon the instructions of JAGPA President Barrister Tasmia Prodhan, Rashed assumed the dual roles of Vice-President and party spokesperson. He effectively represented JAGPA within the 20-party alliance, a pivotal platform in Bangladesh's political landscape.

The dynamics shifted in 2022 when the 20-party alliance disbanded, prompting JAGPA to join the 12-party alliance under the leadership of Rashed Prodhan. Actively engaged in the movement, Rashed emerged as the coordinator of the 12-party alliance in 2023. Under Rashed Prodhan's leadership, JAGPA made a significant decision to boycott the 12th National Assembly elections in 2023, asserting its stance within the political sphere.

Rashed Prodhan played a crucial role in the struggle to restore democracy in the country. Until the final moments before the fall of the fascist Sheikh Hasina on August 5, 2024, through the July mass uprising, Rashed Prodhan remained active on the streets along with the leaders and activists of the Jatiya Ganotantrik Party (JAGPA).

Throughout his journey, Rashed Prodhan has remained steadfast in his commitment to his party's principles and ideals, shaping the trajectory of JAGPA within Bangladesh's political landscape.
